Doing payroll audits at my firm and we are uploading the payroll manually into our excel sheets. Im looking if anyone knows how expedite that and have it automated.
Hey everyone, quick question on historical cleanup jobs. When a client brings in a massive pile of multi-page PDF bank statements from a few years back, what are you guys actually using to get them into Excel cleanly? Currently trying to clean up 2 years of old PDF statements for a new client. Excel's 'Get Data from PDF' completely ruined the formatting, and Adobe keeps treating wrapped transaction lines as brand new rows.I'm looking into DocuClipper, Dext, and AutoEntry, but before I drop the money on a subscription for a small job, I wanted to check here first. Are those actually worth it for handling multi-page statements and tricky line breaks, or is there a better workflow/tool I don't know about yet? What do you all use ??
Edit to clarify: This has been solved. Many thanks for all the help! I never even though to google for a '.pdf to .csv. converter' but I'm on the right track now! :D Update to add (25MAY26) Since this post, I've learned how to, and used, Tabula to pull data from the .pdf's and get it into .csv's. I had to do a couple extra steps to satisfy the Zoho dorks, but it's all done now! Howdy! So, I use Zoho Books (cannot wait until something better comes along!!!), and in 2024 there was a multi month disruption of automatic bank feeds. I'm way behind in my reconciliation and just now finding the missing transactions, numbering in the hundreds across four bank accounts. That bank closed my accounts in Jan 2026, so I cannot get my statements or transactions in .csv anymore (BIG LESSON LEARNED: Reconcile accounts when the bank statement comes out, no matter what, VERY important!). Is there a way to import the transactions into zoho from a .pdf? Or do I just need to suck it up and get moving on manually adding each transaction?
I am a recent hire working 6months. My CFO’s weakness is Excel, but my strength is Excel. Before i was hired as a senior accountant, noone knew how to use xlookup and people printed everything to reconcile which was just crazy. We were behind 6months in AP but now all caught up. When doing bank rec, there was a person who had the bank access so i could just ask her for the statement in Excel from the portal. However, she resigned last year and i have to ask my CFO for the bank statement in Excel, but my CFO.. wants me to do this manually using the hard copy, and this is driving me crazy. He is old school. Today, i asked for the statement, but he said no. He asked me to show why this was necessary. I showed him how i can filter datas etc. Using Excel will make the work faster, more accurate since we have so many intercompany transactions. At first, he agreed with me but he made an excuse that his computer is not working.. he did have a problem printing so he was talking to IT guy but i think he is still thinking about whether he should give me the Excel file or not. Even if he decides not to give, I will convert pdf to Excel and attach them and work from that but still.. This situation just bothers me so much.. My CFO is still one of the nicest people i have ever met, but if something like this continues, this is a red flag for me but i still like everything else about the job so i am in a very tough position. On Monday, I will find out about his decision.
I have a client that brought a large pile of pdf for bookkeeping, apparently the bank statements are outside a window of where the csv can be obtained online. Is there a safe way to generate csv from this pdfs without using some shady websites that claim to convert while also storing the data. Or is there any bookkeeping tool taht would let me use their pdf to generate statements? Suggestions and ideas are welcome. Read more
Hello everyone! I'm using QBO for one of my clients. In the midst of a clean up and qbo is not accepting one of my statements to upload. It's saying the statement has more than one account on it and cannot be processed. It is an account with multiple cards for employees which is why I think qbo is having issues processing it. Do you have any cdv converters that can work with this type of statements? I've tried adobes with my subscription and it doesn't convert correctly - any others out there you recommend ? Thanks!
